Member representing Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo federal constituency in Oyo, Hon. (Dr) Prince Olaide Lateef Mohammed, has awarded full scholarships to 20 deserving constituents of the area.
In a statement by the Special Assistant on Media to the federal lawmaker, Ahmed Eniola Mustapha, at the weekend, he said that the lawmaker’s gesture showcased his dedication to empowering youth through educational opportunities.
“Out of the 20 beneficiaries, three constituents were awarded full scholarships to pursue their studies at Novelty Polytechnic, Kishi. The remaining 17 individuals received scholarships to enroll in various courses at the prestigious Federal Cooperative College, Eleyele, Ibadan, established in 1943, based on courses selected by the lucky constituents,” he said.
The statement also said that the scholarship includes school fees and accommodation fees, adding that the gesture not only catalyzes individual growth but also contributes to the development of the community through education.
Also speaking at the event, the Provost of Federal Cooperative College, Eleyele, represented by his deputy, expressed gratitude to Hon. Mohammed (POLAM), acknowledging him as the first benefactor to engage in such initiative at the institution.
He also conveyed appreciation for the scholarships and encouraged the recipients to view themselves as chosen and blessed individuals, while calling on other philanthropists to emulate the federal lawmaker’s exemplary act of generosity.
Hon. Mohammed, in his address, attributed his ability to sponsor the students to the Almighty Allah, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to be a beacon of hope for the youth. He recognized Hon. Malik, a former State House of Assembly member, for introducing the idea to him.
Drawing from his own experiences in the FRSC cooperative, the lawmaker emphasized the importance of cooperative ventures and encouraged others to join similar initiatives.
The beneficiaries, carefully selected without bias from a pool of interested candidates, were urged by Hon. Mohammed to be exemplary ambassadors of the constituency. He promised to support them monthly with N100,000 and assured them of continued support post-graduation.
Exceptional students were given assurance of further studies, with a commitment to attend their graduation ceremonies and sponsor students annually during his tenure in office.
Hon. Jimoh Lukman Ishola (Omo Bed), House of Assembly member representing Orelope State Constituency, expressed gratitude to Hon. Mohammed and praised him for investing in the education of constituents, pledging monthly support of N100,000.
Similarly, Hon. Waliu Salami Ganmiyan, representing the Irepo/Olorunsogo state constituency, saluted Hon. Mohammed’s commitment and also promised monthly support of N100,000 for the duration of the beneficiaries’ programmes.
In attendance at the event were aides of the three lawmakers, further emphasising the collective effort to promote education and uplift the Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency.
