The newly deployed Osun State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Dr Adaralewa Micheal Akintayo has declared war on indiscipline in state.
Akintayo also warned that officers who bring the image of the corps into disrepute would be dealt with in accordance with extant rules.
The Osun NSCDC Commandant made this known during his maiden meeting with senior officers, area commanders and divisional officers across the State Command on Friday.
According to a statement signed by Adeleke Kehinde, the Command spokesperson, Akintayo maintained that unethical behaviour would never be condoned under any guise.
He also stressed that rule of law and respect for human rights must be strictly adhered to.
‘’One thing I cannot stand is indiscipline to superiors and general public.
“There is need to key into Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi’s agenda of repositioning the corps in order to actualise its mandates.”
He urged officers to use neither their uniforms nor rifles to intimidate members of the public.
“Even in the face of the highest provocation, personnel of the Corps should maintain decorum, never trample on the fundamental human rights of Nigerians.”
The Osun NSCDC boss who charged the personnel to have a firm control of their respective jurisdictions, warned them to be dutiful and intensify their supervisory roles.
He, however, assured that he would always provide good leadership that would help them succeed in the discharge of their duties.
He appealed to members of the public to assist security agencies with timely information to help nip crimes in the bud.
