The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Saturday claimed that the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, may step down from the race by 11am on January 16, 2027.
Wike said Amaechi would step down from the race while claiming that the presidential election has been rigged.
Speaking during President Bola Tinubu’s presidential campaign rally in Ikwerre area of Rivers State, Wike reminded Nigerians that Amaechi failed to produce 15 percent votes while he was the campaign Director General of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Wike: “Mr President, January 16 is already around the corner, I want to tell you that by 11am you will hear somebody will announce, ‘we are not participating in the election, they have rigged it’.
“That was how the same person did in 2015 and 2019 when he was DG of the presidential campaign, he never got up to 15 percent, he never had it.”
The minister also challenged Amaechi to reveal how he spent the $39 million allocated for the Karibi Whyte Specialist Hospital in the state while he was governor.
He also criticized the ADC presidential running mate over his claims of fumigating the state while he was a governor.
“Rivers people have never had it this way, not less than 47 political appointments from Mr President. We are not worried that we are campaigning, all we are saying is that please come and give account of how you fumigated Rivers State, you fumigated Rivers State that there will be no mosquito. Has mosquito gone? Is mosquito not biting you? This is the man that said as he fumigated Rivers State, he will fumigate Nigeria, will you allow that?
“We are not worried, all we are saying is that come and tell us where Karibi Whyte Specialist Hospital is, where we paid $39 million, if converted to naira today is not less than N53 billion. Come and show us where the foundation is,” he added.
