The University of Leicester is offering full tuition fee waivers to high-achieving international undergraduate students starting an eligible course in September 2027. The award supports students with strong academic potential, clear ambitions and a commitment to contributing positively to the University community.
Benefits
- A full tuition fee waiver is available for up to 30 international fee-paying undergraduate students starting an eligible undergraduate programme in September 2027.
The award covers tuition fees for each year of the course, up to a maximum of three years.
Requirements
To be eligible to apply, you must:
- Have a valid offer for a full-time campus based undergraduate programme** at the University of Leicester, starting in September 2027 either for year one entry or direct entry into year two or three.
- Be classed as an international student for fee purposes.
- If you applied via UCAS, make Leicester your firm choice to be considered for this scholarship by the deadline given on your UCAS hub.
- If you have not applied through UCAS you must have firmly accepted your offer directly with us by 4 June 2027.
- You must normally achieve the international qualification equivalent of two grades above the standard A-level entry requirement for your course. For example, if the standard A-level requirement is ABB, the scholarship requirement would normally be equivalent to AAA. The University will determine the appropriate academic threshold where an international qualification does not allow an exact equivalent, or where you are entering year two or three.
What do you need to do?
To be considered, you need to create a short video (no more than two minutes) which answers these three questions:
- What do you want to achieve after university?
- How will your chosen degree help you achieve this?
- How will you contribute to the University community while you’re here?
To apply, complete the scholarship application form and submit a valid video link. Videos should be submitted as a link to Google Drive, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, WeChat Video or Douyin in the section indicated in the application form.
University of Leicester is not looking for film-making or acting skills. They are interested in how you approach and answer the questions. You do not need to appear in the video yourself if you do not want to.
Alongside the video submission, University of Leicester will also take into consideration any extracurricular activities you have highlighted in the application form.
You may apply for multiple scholarships, but you can only be awarded one University scholarship. If you are eligible for more than one award, the University will normally award the highest-value scholarship.
Selection Process
How are we scoring your videos? We are looking at three main categories, and we’ve included some guidance below to show you what we will be looking out for.
- Realism
In this category, the University of Leicester is looking at the feasibility of your answers. Is it possible and do your answers show you’ve given thought and consideration to the viability of your plans for your university life and your future? - Creativity
By creativity, the University of Leicester don’t mean how good your video skills are. This is about your thought process, your idea and how you’ve approached the topic and how you’ve demonstrated your idea. Does your plan stand out from the crowd? - Impact
At Leicester, they are Citizens of Change working for a better future through diverse understanding and ambitious research. The University of Leicester champion diversity and unite in the ambition to pursue knowledge that has an impact in making our world a better place. Will your plans for during and after your degree impact the world for the better? No matter how big or small the University of Leicester will be looking at how well you have demonstrated the impact you could make in the world.
