Bursaspor president Enes Çelik has admitted that the Turkish club could consider selling Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho if they receive an extraordinary transfer offer, despite his desire to keep the Nigerian forward, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Çelik acknowledged Iheanacho’s importance to the team but insisted that the club’s management would have to consider its financial interests if a substantial offer arrives.
“If a poll were conducted, 99% would say he absolutely shouldn’t be sold. I understand that, but we’re not just looking at it emotionally. We also have to look at the situation logically. Iheanacho is a player who scores goals when there’s no real chance,” he said, as quoted by Turkinform.
The Bursaspor president reiterated his desire to retain the 30-year-old but admitted that an exceptional bid could change the club’s position.
“I want him to stay in the team more than anyone. But there might be some absurd figures involved. If there are, we, as the management, will evaluate them. Ultimately, we set out to do what’s right for the club,” Çelik added.
The comments come amid reported interest from Turkish giants Fenerbahçe, who are believed to be monitoring the Nigerian forward following his impressive performances since joining Bursaspor in July 2026.
Iheanacho has made an outstanding start to life at the club, scoring 16 goals and providing three assists in 12 league appearances to emerge as Bursaspor’s leading goalscorer in the 2026/27 campaign.
He has also scored for Nigeria in their international friendly against Russia, taking his overall tally to 17 goals in 13 appearances across club and international football.
Although Çelik declined to disclose the striker’s valuation, he maintained that any acceptable offer would have to be substantial.
“He’s a really good character. It wouldn’t be right to give a specific figure, but if it’s a figure that satisfies everyone, you can be sure it will be a figure that will make people say, ‘He’ll be sold for that amount,’” he concluded.
