The Kogi State Government says the establishment of more Nigerian Army battalions in Kabba, Isanlu, Olamaboro, Idah and Okene will consolidate the achievements of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration.
The State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, stated this while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the 2026 Ayere Day celebration in Ayere, Ijumu Local Government Area of the state.
Omodara noted that the establishment of new battalions in Kabba, Isanlu, Olamaboro, Idah and Okene would complement the existing ones in Lokoja and Anyigba.
He emphasised that security was a continuous process that required the seriousness and commitment of the people.

He added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to expand Army divisions and formations was already yielding results, particularly in Kogi State.
He commended the President for his vision and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Wahid Shuaibu, for bringing the divisions closer to Kogi State, with their headquarters in Benue State.
The security adviser explained that Governor Ododo had aligned with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff by providing an enabling environment for officers and soldiers across the state’s battalions to perform their duties.
“Our deployment going forward is going to be solid. It is going to seriously improve security in Kogi State.
“In Kabba, I have inspected the Kabba Battalion. The governor has given the directive that whatever is needed to make them comfortable, in line with the standards of the Army, should be provided.”
According to him, residents of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency were pleased with the presence of the battalion and were ready to provide the necessary intelligence and support.
“President Tinubu is changing the security trajectory of Nigeria. This is good for us; it is good for the system. We will ensure that while the government is providing the necessary support, we call on Kogi State indigenes, particularly those in areas where the battalions are established, to come to our aid as well.
“Apart from intelligence, we need support. We need people to reciprocate what the government is doing by ensuring that we provide them with amenities.”
