The Inter-Tribal Traditional Leaders Association of Nigeria (ITTLAN) has announced the postponement of its National Unity and Excellence Award Ceremony over the forthcoming election campaigns.
The ceremony was earlier scheduled for October 29th, 2026.
A statement by the Secretary of the Award Planning Committee of the Association, His Highness Oba Dr Alani Kolawole Adeyemi, made available to newsmen on Thursday, said the decision followed appeals from some of the distinguished awardees and special guests of honour.
According to the statement, the awardees and guests are deeply engaged in strategic preparations for the forthcoming campaigns at both the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) and state levels.
Oba Adeyemi, who is also the Oba Yoruba Gombi, clarified that the ceremony is not cancelled but only postponed, adding that all nominations and selections remain valid.

All Awardees remain valid. We are fully ready and prepared to host a more befitting and grand ceremony,” he said.
He tendered sincere apologies to all awardees, guests, partners and the general public for any inconveniences the postponement may have caused, and appreciated their understanding and continued support.
He assured that a new date for the ceremony would be communicated in the coming days after due consultations.
He reaffirmed ITTLAN’s commitment to its core mandate of promoting national unity, peace and peaceful coexistence through the traditional institution.
