The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has listed 16 governorship candidate-and-running-mate tickets and 378 candidates for the Oyo State House of Assembly election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The figures are contained in the commission’s final lists of candidates for the Oyo State governorship and House of Assembly elections, signed by INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony.
The governorship list features candidates from 16 political parties, including Abimbola Adekanmbi of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Oriyomi Hamzat of the Accord Party, Sharafadeen Alli of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adegoke Taofeek Adegboyega of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Gbolarumi Hazeem of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Kareem Thompson of the Labour Party (LP).
Other governorship candidates on the list are Saheed Oladele Jaye Damola of the African Action Congress (AAC), Kunle James Olatunji of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and Gbolagade Tajudeen Salami of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The list also includes Ismaila Akinboye Tijani of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Akim Adebola Yusuf of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ibiyemi Taiwo Otegbeye of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Taofeek Ademola Afolabi of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), Kazeem Ayandoye Yinusa of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Idowu Adeyemi of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and Waheed Olanrewaju Azzan of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
The candidates are accompanied by their respective deputy governorship candidates, whose names and personal details are also provided in the commission’s document.
For the House of Assembly election, the final list contains 378 candidates contesting seats across the state’s constituencies.
The candidates represent various political parties, including the APC, APM, ADC, PDP, Accord Party, Labour Party, ADP, AAC, NDP, NNPP, NDC, PRP, SDP, YPP and ZLP, alongside other parties featured in the list.
The Assembly document provides details of the candidates’ names, constituencies, political affiliations, ages, genders and educational qualifications. It also identifies candidates with disabilities, where applicable.
The two documents form part of INEC’s candidate records for the 2027 elections in Oyo State, covering both the governorship race and the contest for seats in the state House of Assembly.
