What began at his father’s dining table, alongside his co-founder, Emmanuel Obi, has grown into a bold journey of building a creative company in Nigeria. But building a business in Nigeria is rarely a straightforward path. It means navigating changing consumer behaviours, economic realities, rapidly evolving technology and an increasingly competitive industry.
For Tseyi Agharaye, CEO and Lead Director of Bloom Digital Media, these challenges have become part of the journey of building one of Nigeria’s emerging multidisciplinary media and communication companies.
As Bloom celebrates five years, Tseyi is looking beyond the traditional agency model.
His ambition is to build a company that sits at the intersection of media, technology, creativity and communication.
Over the past several years, Tseyi has led Bloom’s growth from a digital marketing-focused business into a broader organisation providing strategic communication, digital marketing, media and content production, branding, media planning and buying, and technology solutions.
The company has worked with organisations across aviation, financial services, real estate, education, healthcare, development and other sectors.
For Tseyi, however, the biggest achievement is not simply the number of campaigns delivered. It is the evolution of the organisation itself.
“One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that building a company is very different from building a business,” he says. “A business can survive because of one person’s effort. A company has to be able to grow because of its people, systems, culture and vision.”
That philosophy has influenced Bloom’s next stage.
The company is developing Bloom Media Group, bringing together complementary businesses and initiatives across media, creative production, technology, education and entertainment.
Tseyi believes Africa’s growing creative and digital economy presents an opportunity for companies willing to think beyond conventional agency structures.
“Africa has incredible creative talent. The opportunity is to build institutions around that talent companies that can create globally relevant work while solving problems that are uniquely African.”
Bloom’s journey has not been without challenges.
Like many growing businesses, the company has had to navigate periods of uncertainty, missed targets, changing market conditions and the realities of building a team and infrastructure from the ground up.
But those experiences have become part of the company’s philosophy of clarity, resilience, creativity and growth.
In 2024, Bloom was named Marketing Edge Top 20 Digital Agency in Nigeria 2024 and in 2025, Bloom received another significant milestone when it was named Outstanding Digital Agency of the Year at the Marketing Edge Awards.
Five years into the journey, Tseyi says the award is less a destination than a marker of what comes next.
“The first five years were about proving that we could build something. The next five years are about proving how far it can go.”
For Tseyi, the goal is clear: build Bloom into a company capable of competing for African and global opportunities while creating meaningful opportunities for the people behind the work.
The next chapter, he says, will be defined not simply by growth, but by scale, relevance and impact.
