The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, on Monday described President Bola Tinubu as a failure who could work from anywhere in the world.
Shaibu was reacting to a remark by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, that the President could work from anywhere in the world due to the advent of technology.
Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30, 2026, for a three-week working vacation in Europe.
From London, Tinubu travelled to Paris, France, where he extended his working vacation.
He was initially scheduled to return to Nigeria on September 29, 2026, from Paris.
His return was initially planned for the weekend, but the presidency confirmed a last-minute adjustment to Tuesday.
Commenting on the backlash that greeted the extension of Tinubu’s vacation, Onanuga said the president was hale and hearty.
Reacting to Onanuga, Shaibu challenged Tinubu to explain the impact of his extended stay in Paris on Nigeria.
In a statement he signed, Shaibu said: “@aonanuga1956, please show your boss this flyer. He can work from France, but can he point to one thing his work has made cheaper for Nigerians? No need to bring us kulikuli from Paris. He should just bring answers.
“Wherever Mr. Tinubu is working from is beside the point. He can work from anywhere; the question is what his work has done to Nigeria. He was in Nigeria when his policies drove up the cost of food, fuel and transport.
“Staying back in France has not reduced that burden. Nigerians are living with the damage of his maladministration every day.
“Your boss is a failure, he knows he is a failure. His wife is aware that he is a failure, his son too. So, he can remain in France for all we care. No one misses his absence.”
Shaibu urged Onanuga to inform Tinubu that Nigerians were not waiting for his return.
He noted that Nigerians needed relief, which Tinubu had failed to deliver.
Shaibu added: “Nobody is waiting for his return like children waiting for a father to bring home kulikuli. What Nigerians need is relief, and he has failed to deliver it.
“He has had his chance. The best thing he can do for the country now is leave the stage. Atiku will make life affordable again.”
