The Nigerian Navy has announced that its 2026 recruitment exercise for Batch 39 of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School will begin on October 2 and close on October 31, 2026.
The Navy disclosed the recruitment schedule in a post on its X handle on Monday, alongside the guidelines for prospective applicants.
The recruitment is open to eligible Nigerian citizens by birth who have a National Identification Number (NIN) and satisfy the Navy’s educational, age, physical and medical requirements.
Applicants are required to complete their applications online through the Nigerian Navy’s official recruitment portal when the exercise opens.
It said applicants must be medically, psychologically and physically fit, while those with previous criminal convictions are not eligible to apply.
Candidates must also meet the minimum height requirement of 1.69 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females.
For applicants seeking entry with O’Level qualifications, the Navy requires candidates to be aged between 18 and 22 years as of December 31, 2026.
Such applicants must also have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, obtained in not more than two sittings.
The recruitment guidelines also specify separate age and qualification requirements for candidates with OND/NCE certificates, tradesmen, applicants in medical-related professions, and sportsmen and women.
The Nigerian Navy stressed that participation in the recruitment exercise is free and warned prospective applicants against individuals demanding money in exchange for recruitment assistance.
“Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the Exercise,” the Navy said.
Applicants who complete the online registration will be required to print their acknowledgement form, parent or guardian consent form, Local Government attestation form and guarantor’s certification form.
The Navy said details of the recruitment examination, including the date and venues, would be communicated to applicants at a later date.
It urged interested candidates to consult the official recruitment portal for further information when registration begins on October 2.
The recruitment guidelines also limit each applicant to one application.
“Only a single valid application is permitted, multiple online applications shall be disqualified,” the guideline stated.
The Navy further warned that applicants must be able to communicate in basic English, adding that failure to meet the requirement could result in disqualification at any stage of the recruitment process.
