Osun Assembly passes integrated parks management bill

The Osun State House of Assembly has passed the Osun State Integrated Parks Management System Bill, 2026, into law as part of efforts to enhance the administration of motor parks and promote safety throughout the state.

The bill was passed after the House considered and adopted the report from the Committee on Public Works and Transport during a plenary session on Tuesday.

The report’s adoption followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Babajide Kofoworola, and seconded by Hon. Sikiru Bajepade, who represents the Ila State Constituency.

Following this, the Majority Leader moved the motion for the bill’s passage into law, which was seconded by Hon. Taofeek Olayiwola, representing the Ede South State Constituency.

Speaking after the passage, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, said the legislation was designed to provide benefits to the people of the state, particularly motorists and other stakeholders in the transport sector.

Egbedun said the new law would help to bring greater order and sanity to motor parks across Osun, while also contributing to the protection of lives and property.

According to him, the legislation would provide a framework capable of improving the management of motor parks and creating a more orderly environment for transport operators and commuters.

He said, “With all these submissions, a series of benefits will be derived from the passage of the bill.”

The Speaker added that both residents and motorists stood to benefit from the legislation, stressing that other issues arising from the implementation of the law would be handled administratively.

He explained that the final copy of the legislation would be prepared and transmitted to Governor Ademola Adeleke for assent, completing the legislative process.

The passage comes amid efforts by the state government and other stakeholders to address challenges associated with the management and operation of motor parks in the state.
