The Kogi East APC Legacy Group has commended Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo for responding to the infrastructure needs of the district following the commencement of procurement processes for road and school projects.
The group said two recent public notices by the Kogi State Government showed that some of the projects contained in its memorandum to the governor had reached the tender and contract-award stage.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the group’s spokesperson, Dr Johnson Musa, said the development demonstrated the administration’s commitment to addressing infrastructure challenges in Kogi East.

The group had, late last month, presented a memorandum to Governor Ododo outlining the district’s priority needs, including roads, education, electricity, healthcare, water supply, and security.
According to Musa, the Kogi State Ministry of Works had invited tenders for the construction and rehabilitation of roads, with two of the identified projects located in Kogi East.
They include the 37-kilometer Idah-Onyedega Road in Ibaji and the 13-kilometer Odenyi-Oguma-Sheria Road in Bassa. The deadline for submission of bids is September 17, 2026.
The group said the two road corridors were important to farmers, traders, and residents, noting that their construction would improve transportation and access to markets, healthcare, and other essential services.
Musa also highlighted the state government’s plan to construct and expand secondary schools under the World Bank-assisted AGILE programme.
The procurement notice covers 28 schools across 21 local government areas, including nine schools in Kogi East, with one project located in each of the district’s nine local government areas.
The projects include the conversion of the UBE Junior Secondary School at Enjema in Ankpa to a senior secondary school; construction of a Government Science Secondary School at Oguma in Bassa; and expansion of the UBE Junior Secondary School at Efakwu Egume in Dekina.
Others are the Government Secondary School at Onyedega in Ibaji; Idah Secondary Commercial College; expansion of the UBE Junior Secondary School at Odolu in Igalamela-Odolu; conversion of the UBE Junior Secondary School at Agojeju in Ofu to a senior secondary school; construction of Ukoh Community Secondary School in Olamaboro; and the Government Science Secondary School at Ogodu in Omala.
The group described the spread of the projects across all nine local government areas as a step towards equitable development and improved access to secondary education.
“We thank Governor Ododo for listening and for acting with speed. These roads and schools were among the needs we placed before him. Their appearance for construction shows a government that keeps faith with its people,” Musa said.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the support that made the projects possible, adding that Kogi East remained committed to the administration.
The group, however, called for continued attention to other issues contained in its memorandum, including the proposed national electric transmission substation, rural water schemes, the revitalisation of general hospitals, improved security, additional road projects, and transparency in the development of the Ankpa coal and Ibaji oil resources.
It pledged to continue monitoring the implementation of the projects and working with the government to promote development across Kogi East.
The Kogi East APC Legacy Group reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu, Governor Ododo, and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
