The University of Macau is pleased to welcome applications from international students for its fully funded Master’s and PhD scholarships in China.
For selected candidates, the University of Macau Scholarships includes tuition fee coverage, a $2,483.54 living stipend, and a on-campus accommodation fee for international students.
Requirements
To be considered for the University of Macau Scholarship for International Students, you must:
- Be prospective students interested in pursuing doctoral, master’s or postgraduate certificate-level studies.
- Meet the specific admission requirements for their chosen programme because eligibility criteria, required academic qualifications and application materials may differ between programmes.
- Explore the available programmes and determine whether your academic background matches the requirements of their preferred course.

Benefits
The University of Macau offers several scholarships and forms of financial aid for postgraduate students, including;
UM PhD Scholarship
- UMPS provides each awardee with a monthly stipend of MOP20,000 for a period up to 4 years.
- Tuition fees will be offset by the monthly stipend before stipend disbursement.
UM PhD Teaching Research Assistant
- UMTRA-Type A provides each eligible TRA with a starting monthly stipend of MOP12,500 for a period up to 4 years.
- UMTRA-Type B provides each eligible TRA with a monthly stipend that is equivalent to the monthly average of the programme full tuition fees during the normative study period.
- Tuition fees will be offset by the monthly stipend before stipend disbursement.
International Student Scholarship
- UMTRA-Type A provides each eligible TRA with a starting monthly stipend of MOP12,500 for a period up to 4 years.
- UMTRA-Type B provides each eligible TRA with a monthly stipend that is equivalent to the monthly average of the programme full tuition fees during the normative study period.
- Tuition fees will be offset by the monthly stipend before stipend disbursement.
University of Macau Scholarship for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Programmes.
- Scholarship recipients of master’s degree programmes will receive a one-off scholarship in their first year of study.
- The scholarship is one-off and students can only receive once throughout their entire study period of the programme.
- It is also compatible with other types of scholarships, academic awards and allowances offered by the UM.
