Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dissolved the Governing Council of the Osun State University, UNIOSUN, and reconstituted the council to strengthen the institution’s governance structure.
The governor announced the development in a statement issued in Osogbo on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
According to the statement, “the reconstitution was also aimed at preventing any administrative gaps in the operation of the university, which has been described as a globally rated institution.”
The statement disclosed that Gov Adeleke retained Prof Adewale Abiodun Oladipo as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the newly constituted Governing Council.
According to the statement, “Oladipo had previously served as chairman of the dissolved Governing Council before being reappointed to lead the reconstituted body.
“Other members appointed to the new council are Gbadegesin Lawal, former Deputy Governor, Titi Laoye-Ponnle, and Akinola Franklin Omoniyi.”
The list also includes Chief Funminiyi Awotide, Mr Orija Samuel Adebayo and Mrs Adewale Adetayo Bola as members of the governing council.
The governor charged the newly reconstituted council with sustaining the university’s existing record of excellence and supporting its management in delivering further innovations.
He urged the council to work with the university management to advance the institution’s development and maintain its standards.
The statement said the inauguration of the newly reconstituted Governing Council would take place on Monday, August 31, 2026.
