Requirements
To be considered for the Pittsburg State University Masters Scholarship, you must:
- have completed a bachelor’s degree in a related field by May 2026 and have a strong academic record.
- have a record of related research experience working on similar projects.
- be able to work collaboratively and independently and should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The position requires extensive travel to remote field sites and long hours outdoors under adverse weather conditions, biting insects, and occasional after-dark conditions.
- The students will need to communicate regularly with landowners and resource professionals; a strong work ethic and professionalism are critical. A valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to legally operate state-owned vehicles is required.
Competitive applicants will have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following:
- Programming and statistical modeling in R
- GIS and spatial modeling
- Molecular methods for conservation genetics
- Radio-telemetry, including both manual and automated tracking
- ARUs and/or camera systems for remote monitoring
