Plateau Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has clarified that he never promised to share government positions as part of his move to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying his commitment was limited to party positions.
Mutfwang made the clarification amid reports of disagreement within the APC in the state over an alleged 60:40 sharing formula between his political group and the APC Legacy Group.
Speaking at the swearing-in of three additional commissioners, the governor said the commitment he made during his movement to the APC concerned party positions and had been honoured.
He said no member of the APC Legacy Group had been shortchanged, noting that about 80 per cent of the current APC state executive members were members of the party before his group joined.

Mutfwang also said 16 of the 24 APC candidates for the forthcoming Plateau State House of Assembly election were members of the APC Legacy Group, while the remaining eight were among those who defected to the APC with him from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“To clarify this rumour, the APC chairman is here. I have never promised to share government positions. Since joining APC, I never promised to share positions. And we didn’t shortchange anybody.
“As I am talking to you, out of the 24 APC candidates that emerged for State Assembly, 16 of them are APC legacy members, while the remaining eight are part of those who crossed with me from PDP to APC.
“But I’d like to say that the time has come to seal this dichotomy between the governor and legacy group. We’re now one big family. I have always considered Prince Mahpiem as an APC member. I appointed him as commissioner not because he is an APC member, but because he has something to offer.”
The governor said his administration would continue to consider individuals with the capacity to contribute meaningfully to governance and bring them into government when necessary.
He also assured party members that subsequent appointments would be balanced, urging APC members in the state to see one another as members of one family.
