Hon. Aloba Gideon, the NDC candidate for Ijesa South Federal Constituency, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the 2026 Osun State governorship election, describing the outcome as a victory for democracy and a reflection of the will of the people.
In a statement following the declaration of the result, Aloba commended the people of Osun State for exercising their democratic rights and standing firmly behind their choice at the polls.
He said the election demonstrated that when citizens remain determined, peaceful and vigilant, the voice of the people can ultimately prevail.
Aloba noted that the outcome was particularly significant because it reaffirmed the importance of citizens protecting their votes and participating actively in the democratic process. He also acknowledged the challenges reported in some parts of the state, including concerns over voter intimidation, stressing that the resilience and wisdom of the people helped ensure that the election was not defined by such challenges.
According to him, the Osun election should remind political leaders that electoral mandates are not merely about winning elections but about earning and sustaining the trust of the people.

While congratulating Governor Adeleke on securing another mandate, Aloba urged him to regard the victory as a renewed call to service and a greater responsibility to the people of Osun State.
He specifically appealed to the governor not to betray the trust and love that the people of Osun have reposed in him, but to continue delivering on his promises and putting the interests of the people first.
“Osun has spoken. The people’s mandate must be respected. Democracy is strongest when the voice of the people is allowed to prevail,” Aloba said.
The NDC candidate reaffirmed his commitment to democratic values, peaceful political engagement and a political culture where the interests of the people remain above partisan considerations.
