Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to address the welfare needs of retired members of the Armed Forces in the state.
Kefas, a retired army officer himself, made the promise on Monday during the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, which took place in Jalingo, the state capital.
He acknowledged the sacrifices made by fallen heroes and emphasized the importance of not taking their dedication for granted.
The governor urged the public to extend support to the families of both fallen and retired Armed Forces members.
Commending the Nigeria Army for its unwavering efforts in addressing security threats within the state, Kefas expressed his determination to continue supporting security agencies to ensure a crime-free society.
Chairman of the Legion in the state, W. O. Nuhu Samaila, highlighted the continued capability of many retirees and urged the government to consider employing them in security roles.
He appealed for support in completing the organization’s secretariat, providing a vehicle, and covering monthly running costs to enhance its efficiency.
Samaila also called on the public to support widows of fallen heroes in the state.
