The National Board for Technical Education has approved 23 additional programmes for Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
A statement obtained from the institution’s media unit in Uyo on Tuesday said the additional programmes have brought the total number of programmes offered by the institution to 44.
According to the statement, the approval was contained in a letter signed by the Director, Polytechnic and Allied Programmes, Ayo Aroge, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, adding that the programme, which will initially run for two years, will commence in the 2026/2027 academic session.
While noting that newly accredited programmes are another testament to the visionary administration of the rector, Mrs Edumma Essien, the statement added, however, that full accreditation of the programmes will be due for another quality assurance visit by the end of September 2028.
“The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved an additional 23 new programmes for the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The programme, which will run initially for two years, will commence in the 2026/2027 academic session.
“The full accreditation of the programmes will be due for another quality assurance visit by the end of September 2028. These newly accredited programmes are another profound testament to the remarkable and visionary administration of the rector, Mrs Edumma Essien,” the statement added.
The newly accredited programmes are ND Surveying & Geo-informatics; ND Estate Management and Valuation; ND Building Technology; ND Petroleum Marketing & Business Studies; ND Crime Management; ND Artificial Intelligence; ND Procurement and Supply Chain Management; ND Mechatronics Engineering Technology; ND Water Resources Engineering Technology; ND Renewable Energy Engineering Technology.
Others include HND SLT (Chemistry Option); HND SLT (Biochemistry Option); HND SLT (Microbiology Option); HND SLT (Physics with Electronics Option); and HND SLT (Environmental Biology Option).
Others are HND Cyber Security and Data Protection; HND Electrical Electronics Engineering Technology (Power & Machine Option); HND Electrical Electronics Engineering Technology (Electronics/Telecommunication Option); HND Electrical Electronics Engineering Technology (Instrumentation and Control Option); HND Computer Engineering Technology; HND Civil Engineering Technology; HND Business Administration & Management; and HND Accountancy.
