A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Bola Ilori, has paid a condolence visit to the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, over the demise of former governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.
Ilori, during the visit, extolled the virtues of the late Akeredolu, whom he described as a fearless and courageous personality who used the instrumentality of the law to protect and secure his people.
‘’Aketi was a fearless and courageous politician who spoke the truth to power, mostly at difficult and critical times that most politicians find inconvenient,” he said.
He equally used the visit to eulogise the Olowo, whom he described as a progressive and unusual monarch who used the traditional institution as a tool of support for progressive ideals and positive influence on government policies and programmes, particularly in the area of security.
According to him, ” Oba Ogunoye’s principled stance, cultural enchantment, and invocations against the June 2022 Owo massacre are legendary; the input and influence of the Olowo in the creation of the Southwest Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun Operation will forever remain indelible in the hearts of the people.”
He called on the people and the traditional ruler to support the new governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a bid for them to deliver the real dividends of democracy to the citizens.
In his remarks, Oba Ogunoye thanked Ilori and his team for the visit, calling it ” very thoughtful and heartwarming in the time of grief of the kingdom over the loss of an illustrious son.”
In the entourage of Hon. Ilori, the paramount ruler of Owo Kingdom, were Chief Jamiu Ekungba, an APC National Board of Trustee Member; Mr Akintunde Temitope, former APC Ondo East Local Government Chairman; Mr Wale Akindahinsi, the leader of Bola Ilori Group in Ondo West Local Government of Ondo State; and many other dignitaries.
