The Rotary Club of Ibadan Bodija Estate has installed Rotarian Anya Chukwu as its 12th President for the 2026/2027 Rotary year, pledging stronger humanitarian service and seeking support from individuals, corporate bodies and stakeholders for its community projects.
The ceremony, held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Rotary House, Oluyole Way, New Bodija, Ibadan, attracted District 9126 Governor, Rotarian Olaniyi Amoo Okin; district officials; Rotary and Inner Wheel members; traditional rulers; community leaders; and other dignitaries. Representatives of the Olubadan-in-Council, led by Senator Sarafadeen Alli, were also present.
Chukwu was accompanied by his wife, Professor Mrs Angela Anya Chukwu, family, friends and well-wishers.
The event featured his installation, the inauguration of the new board, induction of new members, presentation of awards, goodwill messages and a fundraising session.
Chukwu seeks support
In his speech, Chukwu outlined planned projects and appealed for financial and material support, stressing that success depends on collective effort. His administration is anchored on the theme, “Creating Lasting Impact”.
Chairman of the occasion, Mr Ikechukwu Agwu, called for support for the projects and greater commitment to humanitarian service by individuals and corporate organisations. He donated N3 million, while Senator Sarafadeen Alli gave N1.5 million, bringing the major donations to N4.5 million, alongside other contributions.
Immediate past President, Rotarian Victor Giwa, PHF, highlighted the achievements of his tenure and thanked members and partners for their support.
The new Board of Directors was inaugurated to implement the year’s programmes. Rotarian Olalere Olabiran, President-Elect, and Rotarian Adebayo, President-Nominee, were also recognised.
The Investiture Committee, led by Rotarian Tunde Abiona, was commended for organising a successful event.
NYSC Oyo State Coordinator, Mr Kayode Ola Peters, who was represented at the event by Dr Mrs Ngozi Arifayan, received the “Create Lasting Impact” pin. Agwu was inducted into the club alongside Mr Farouk Akinpelu and Mrs Temitope.
Awards were presented to several individuals and organisations, including Mr Ikechukwu Agwu, CEO of DAV-RIC Group; Dr Emmanuel Andem; High Chief Sunday Ike Ogbonnia; Graphics Packaging International; Chief Tope Miliki; Engr Femi Babalola, owner of JOGOR Centre; Engr Eze Joel Obasi; Rev (Engr) Etteh I. I. Etteh; CP Bode Ojajuni, Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Police Command; Dr Idowu Emmanuel, founder of God’s Knot Hospital; and Oba Senator Dr Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, among others.
The event ended with goodwill messages, celebrations and a vote of thanks by Rotarian Olalere Olabiran. Chukwu reaffirmed his commitment to impactful service and creating lasting impact in the 2026/2027 Rotary year.
