Governor Francis Nwifuru says he has forgiven the governorship candidates of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Ifeanyi Odii and All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Prof Bernard Odoh, for wanting to truncate his victory at the poll.
He also urged his supporters to forgive them.
Nwifuru stated at the State Executive Council Chamber, Government House, Centenary City Abakaliki while addressing the people of the state on return from Abuja after the Friday supreme court judgement which affirmed his victory as the governor of the state.
According to Nwifuru, he has seven years and six months to stay in office as the governor. He then promised to outline what he has achieved as the governor when he bowed out.
Nwifuru who lamented the lack of industry in the state, except for politics, said he would create more Industry in the state.
“To those who fought against us, especially the unfriendly friends, may they be forgiven.
“Ebonyi people voted me into power and I don’t anybody can remove me. No matter the conspiracy, we must definitely defeat our enemies.
“I am confident that we have the strength to take up our responsibility to rewrite the story of our dear state.
“No functional industry in Ebonyi State. The only industry in the state is politics and it will not continue to be so.
“By the special grace of God, we will be here for the next seven and half months and when we are bowing out, we will outline what we have achieved.
“You came out and voted for me and some people wanted to truncate my victory but God said no”, he stated.
Meanwhile, Former Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Martin Elechi, has urged Governor Francis Nwifuru to continue to lead the state in the right direction.
According to Elechi, Nwifuru has endured all the intrigues, provocations and fights by opposition elements in the state who took him to various courts to challenge his victory at the March 2023 governorship election in the state.
He congratulated the governor and urged him to continue to deliver democracy dividends to the people.
“You have endured all the intrigues, all the provocations, all the fights during and after the general elections.
“We will continue to support you as you lead Ebonyi to the promised land.
“We thank you for your support for the founding fathers of the state,” Elechi told Nwifuru.
