Jigawa State has received a total of N11.58 billion from the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Social Security Grant and Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme.
The Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, Auwalu Danladi Sankara, disclosed this while providing an update on the implementation of the programme across the state.
He said the number of households captured under the intervention had increased from the previously recorded 154,412 to 178,342, describing the development as a significant expansion of the Federal Government’s social protection initiative.
According to him, an additional 25,300 beneficiaries are currently being covered through the ongoing distribution of payment cards, with another N1.897 billion expected to be injected into the state when the process is completed.
Sankara explained that 126,636 registered households had been fully settled during the first phase of the programme, which commenced in January 2026, with beneficiaries receiving their payment cards and initial grants.

He said the state government was working with relevant agencies to ensure that the intervention reached the intended beneficiaries across the 27 local government areas without unnecessary delays or disruptions.
The commissioner disclosed that card distribution had earlier been completed in 21 local government areas between June 13 and 24, including Gwaram, Birnin Kudu, Buji, Dutse, Kiyawa, Jahun, Miga, Kazaure, Roni, Gwiwa, Yankwashi, Ringim, Taura, Babura, Gagarawa, Gumel, Maigatari, Sule Tankarkar, Birniwa and Guri.
He added that subsequent distribution exercises were conducted in Kiri Kasama, Kaugama, Malam Madori, Auyo, Kafin Hausa and Hadejia between June 25 and 30.
Sankara said the August phase of the exercise was also underway, with Kiri Kasama scheduled for August 6, and Kafin Hausa for August 7 and 8.
He listed Ringim and Taura for August 9; Babura and Garki for August 10; Miga for August 11; Buji and Jahun for August 12; Kiyawa for August 13; Gwaram for August 14 and 15; Dutse for August 16; and Birnin Kudu for August 17.
He assured residents that more cards were expected in the state and would be distributed as they arrived, adding that the ministry would continue to provide updates until the exercise was concluded.
The commissioner said the intervention was designed not only to provide immediate financial relief to poor households but also to stimulate economic activities within local communities.
He noted that the cash assistance would enable vulnerable families to improve household nutrition, cope with economic pressures and strengthen their sources of income.
According to him, the funds would also circulate within rural communities by supporting petty traders, food vendors, tea sellers and other small businesses patronised by beneficiaries.
Sankara commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reviewing the social grant upward, saying the intervention had become an important source of support for vulnerable Nigerians amid prevailing economic challenges.
He said the programme reflected the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and demonstrated the benefits of collaboration between the Federal and state governments.
The commissioner also praised Jigawa State Governor, Umar A. Namadi, for providing the necessary enabling environment and logistical support for the smooth implementation of the programme.
He said the state government’s support was in line with the governor’s 12-Point Agenda, particularly its focus on social inclusion, economic empowerment and poverty reduction.
Sankara urged beneficiaries to remain orderly at designated distribution centres and cooperate with security personnel, local government officials and NSIPA representatives during the exercise.
He further advised beneficiaries to come with appropriate identification and previous verification documents whenever required.
The commissioner warned members of the public against falling victim to fraudsters, stressing that the card distribution and payment process was completely free.
“No fees are attached. Do not give a single naira to anyone claiming to facilitate the process. If anyone attempts to extort you, report the person immediately to ministry officials on site,” he said.
