The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has deployed more than 1,000 young professionals into its workforce, saying its recruitment process is based on merit rather than personal connections or place of origin.
The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, Bayo Ojulari, disclosed the development in a post shared on his X account on Thursday.
According to Ojulari, the newly deployed employees completed one year of internship, intensive training and performance evaluation before securing permanent positions in the company.
He said the deployment marked a major milestone for NNPC Ltd, noting that many of the recruits shared personal accounts of how they were employed through different routes but under the same transparent recruitment process.
Ojulari stressed that the company places greater emphasis on competence, ability and performance instead of influence or background. He added that while the successful applicants were initially offered opportunities based on their qualifications, their dedication and consistent performance throughout the internship period earned them permanent roles.
He said NNPC Ltd is building a workplace driven by talent, hard work and fairness, adding that the company is committed to rewarding employees who demonstrate their value through performance.
Ojulari also urged the new employees to contribute ideas, express their opinions and embrace opportunities for personal and professional development.
He encouraged them to remember the journey they went through to secure their positions and to uphold the same culture of fairness by creating opportunities for others when they become leaders in the future.
He welcomed the new employees into the organisation and called on them to contribute to the company’s growth and future development.
