Kaohsiung Medical University offers fully funded scholarships for international students.

Benefits
Every type of stipend includes different allowance as below:
- Type A: NTD 200,000~260,000 per year (monthly stipend, accommodation coverage and tuition fee are included)
- Type B: NTD 80,000~140,000 per year (accommodation coverage and tuition fee are included)
- Type C: NTD 70,000~80,000 per year (tuition fee)
- Type D: All international Undergraduate, Master’s, and Ph.D. students are eligible. However, the scholarship content shall be proposed and allocated by each department/institute, and the total amount shall not exceed that of the Type A scholarship.
Undergraduate students can only apply for Type C, Master’s students can apply for Type B and Type C, Ph.D. students can apply for all types of the scholarship. Failure to follow the instructions above may affect the result of application.
The list of the recipients of the KMU International Student Scholarship is reviewed by each academic year, and in accordance with regulations, it is subject to evaluation by the International Academic Committee based on merit. After approval by the President, the scholarship is awarded to eligible recipients.
Requirements
- Applicants shall meet the following requirements, cited from the latest Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan:
- A person of foreign nationality who has never held Republic of China (“R.O.C.”) nationality and who meets the following requirements is permitted to apply for admission to an educational institution, in accordance with the provisions of these Regulations:
- The person has never undertaken studies in Taiwan as an overseas Chinese student.
- The person has not been given a placement in the current academic year by the University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students in accordance with the Regulations Regarding Study and Counseling Assistance for Overseas Chinese Students in Taiwan.
- Master’s Program Applicants: A Bachelor’s degree or higher obtained from a university or an independent college recognized by M.O.E., or document of equivalent educational level should be verified by R.O.C. representative office.
- Ph.D. Program Applicants: A Master’s degree or higher obtained from a university or an independent college recognized by M.O.E., or document of equivalent educational level should be verified by R.O.C. representative office.
Application Documents
- Online Application Form and KMU Scholarship Application Form, which is applicable to applicants who are interested in KMU Scholarship. After filling out online application forms, print it out and sign then upload to the online system. Applicants may apply for up to 3 programs.
- The highest-level diploma verified by R.O.C. representative office. (Chinese or English translation is required if the transcript is in neither of the languages aforementioned.)
- Official transcripts verified by R.O.C. representative office. (Chinese or English translation is required if the transcript is in neither of the languages aforementioned.)
- Master’s degree programs applicants should provide Bachelor’s degree (or above) official transcripts of every semester.
- Ph.D. degree programs applicants should provide Master’s degree (or above) official transcripts of every semester.
- Parts of the programs evaluate the applicant’s Grade Point Average (GPA), transcripts including explanation of grading system must be provided. If the explanation is not provided, the Score/GPA will be converted in accordance with KMU’s Grade Conversion Guide.
- Proof of Nationality
- Proof of Language Proficiency: Most of the courses of graduate programs are available in English while minimum English/Chinese language proficiency requirements are as follows:
- For programs that require English proficiency, applicants must submit an English proficiency certificate at CEFR B1 or above. Alternatively, applicants can provide a school-issued document stating that their immediately preceding degree program was conducted in English.
- For programs that require Chinese proficiency, applicants must submit a Chinese proficiency certificate at TOCFL A2 or an equivalent level on CEFR A2 or above. Alternatively, applicants can provide a school-issued document stating that their immediately preceding degree program was conducted in chinese.
- A study plan in Chinese or English
- Two letters of recommendation (in Chinese or English): Referees are kindly requested to submit recommendations online.
- Other documents specified by the department or graduate institute
- Passport size photograph: a close-up shot of the head and shoulders (no hats/sunglasses/tinted glasses) within the last 12 months
Method of Application
Applicants who are interested in KMU International Student Scholarship should apply for admission while simultaneously fulfilling the online application form.
