The Independent National Electoral Commission has partnered with a non-governmental organisation, U-Blaze Global Limited, to intensify voter registration awareness in Ondo State ahead of the July 26 deadline for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
The collaboration comes as the electoral body continues preparations for future elections by encouraging eligible Nigerians to register as first-time voters, transfer their registration where necessary, or update their voter information.
This was contained in a statement released on Monday by INEC, following a voter sensitisation exercise held in Akure.
According to the commission, the initiative is aimed at expanding voter education and increasing citizens’ participation in the electoral process.
The statement partly read, “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ondo State Office, in collaboration with U-Blaze Global Limited, a non-governmental organisation, has organised a voter sensitisation walk in Akure to encourage eligible citizens to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ahead of its deadline.
“The initiative, tagged ‘PVC Assembly Walk 2026 – Vote Ready Ondo,’ forms part of efforts to deepen voter education, promote responsible citizenship and encourage eligible residents to register as first-time voters, apply for transfer of registration or update their voter information before the close of the CVR exercise on 26 July 2026.”
The statement explained that the awareness walk covered major parts of the state capital and attracted students, members of the partner organisation and electoral officials.
“The awareness walk commenced at the First Bank Traffic Light, Alagbaka, and proceeded through Omi-Eja, A-Division, Olukayode and Oja-Oba before terminating at Democracy Park, behind the Central Mosque, Akure. The exercise attracted students, members of U-Blaze Global Limited and officials of INEC, Ondo State”, the statement continued.

It added that participants used the opportunity to educate residents on the voter registration process and the importance of participating in elections.
It added, “At the end of the walk, participants engaged members of the public in voter education activities, providing information on the registration process and highlighting the importance of citizens’ participation in the electoral process.”
The statement added that while speaking during the event, the Head of the Voter Education and Publicity Department of INEC in Ondo State, Mr Olayinka Ogunseye, commended the collaboration between the commission and the non-governmental organisation.
“Speaking during the event, the Head of the Voter Education and Publicity Department, INEC Ondo State, Mr Olayinka Ogunseye, commended the collaboration between the Commission and U-Blaze Global Limited in advancing voter awareness across the state.

“He noted that the Commission remains committed to expanding partnerships with civil society organisations and other stakeholders to strengthen voter education and public sensitisation. Ogunseye added that INEC, under the leadership of the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ondo State, Dr Mutiu Agboke, will continue to support initiatives that encourage greater participation in the electoral process.
“He also urged all eligible citizens who are yet to register, those wishing to transfer their registration or update their voter records, to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise before the deadline”, the commission stated.
The commission reiterated its commitment to ensuring that every eligible voter has the opportunity to participate in future elections.
“The Commission has continued to intensify voter education activities across the state as part of its commitment to ensuring that every eligible citizen has the opportunity to register and participate in future elections”, the statement concluded.
