The Upper Area Court (11), sitting in Jalingo, has fixed 2nd July 2026 for a definite hearing in a case between Mr Gabriel Olayinka, a Taraba-based journalist standing trial over alleged criminal breach of trust, and Mr Isa Jubri.
When the case came up for hearing, prosecuting counsel, Barr. D.G. Tukura, made an application before the court that certain bank documents, statements of account from three different banks, be made available before the court with the PIN witnesses.
However, the defendant’s counsel, Barr. Longs Lugnan, argued that the prosecuting counsel has consistently failed to present substantial witnesses to prosecute his claims against his client, delaying the proceedings of the matter while his client has remained in detention.

Barrister Lugnan of P.D. Pius and Associates prayed that the matter be long overdue and, as such, be given an accelerated hearing.
The trial judge, Hon. Lawan Jika, agreed with the defending counsel’s submission and fixed 2nd July 2026 for a definite hearing.
Relatedly, at the state high court in Jalingo, the application for a review of bail conditions was mentioned. However, the prosecuting counsel, Barr. D.G. Tukura, asked for more time to enable him to respond to the application made by the defendant’s counsel.
Barrister Tukura told the court that he was unable to respond to the application due to his work device’s technical challenges.
The court adjourned the matter to July 6th, 2026, for the hearing of the bail conditions review application.
