Lead City University, Ibadan, has partnered with the Oluyole local government on the primary healthcare service aimed at boosting healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.

This comes as the institution’s pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Aladekomo, donated critical medical supplies to the council.

Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, the executive chairman of Oluyole local government, disclosed this while taking delivery of medical supplies donated by a charity foundation.

The presentation of the supplies to the council, held at Odo-ona Elewe Maternity Centre, Oluyole, on Friday, April 4, was attended by key stakeholders, including the wife of the council chairman, Hajia Balkis Olatunji, top officials from the LG and a delegation from the university.

Olatunji, who expressed appreciation for the donation, said the move was part of his administration’s efforts geared towards boosting the council’s Primary Healthcare system and improving grassroots service delivery in Oluyole LG via strategic partnership with development partners.

As part of this collaboration, the council has taken delivery of essential medical equipment aimed at strengthening healthcare services across the local government.

Olatunji, in his remarks, commended the supervisory councilor for health in Oluyole, Hon. Abbas Mariam, for her efforts and commitments towards community development.

He noted that the new medical supplies will directly impact maternal and child health, emergency response, and preventive care within the local PHCs.

“This partnership is a testament to what can be achieved when the academic and government work hand in hand. These medical supplies will go a long way in supporting our healthcare workers and ensuring our people receive quality care.

“This gesture is fully in line with the vision of our administration’s commitment to quality and accessible primary healthcare services at the grassroots level.

“This collaboration is just a prime example of how academic institutions and privileged individuals can actively engage with government, especially at the grassroots, to address real-life challenges.

“As our dependable development partner, Oluyole local government is proud to partner with this reputable Foundation and we look forward to exploring more areas of mutually beneficial opportunities for the good people of Oluyole LG,” Olatunji said.

Earlier in his remark, the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Lead City University, Professor Johnson Aladekomo, who is also the founder of the Center for Poverty Alleviation and Rural Development (CPARD), reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to supporting developmental projects in its host communities.

He said the initiative is part of the foundation’s commitment to grassroots development and creating access to quality primary healthcare services, particularly in underserved communities.
