A UK-based Nigerian tech entrepreneur, Dr Kunle Alegbeye, has been conferred an honorary doctorate in Business Education by Prowess University, Delaware, US.

The honorary award was presented at the 11th Leadership Summit and Induction Ceremony, held at the University of Lagos, on Saturday, 5th April, 2025

The conferment ceremony was a grand affair, celebrating Alegbeleye’s achievements and the university’s dedication to honoring individuals who have made extraordinary strides in their respective careers.

Speaking, African Representative, Prowess University representative, Professor Eze Nwauba stressed the importance of nurturing leaders who can drive change and inspire future generations.

Adding that Alagbeleye was honored for his exceptional contributions to the field of education are not just theoretical; they are deeply rooted in practical applications that address the pressing challenges faced by African nations.

Nwauba, however, noted that the university, which is known for nurturing leaders across various domains, the decision to honor the tech entrepreneur underscores his significant impact in his field.

During the event, Alegbeleye appreciated the university for the recognition while he emphasized his passion and belief in the transformative power of education, particularly through smart school technologies that enhance learning.

He further stressed the need for a paradigm shift in the way education is approached in Africa, advocating for innovative strategies that engage students and foster critical thinking.

“I appreciate the management of the Prowess University for the honor; this is not just mine; it belongs to everyone who has walked this path with me.

“There is a need for a paradigm shift in the way education is approached in Africa and a need for innovative strategies that engage students and foster critical thinking,” he said.

Alegbeleye’s achievements include the establishment of several organizations dedicated to integrating cutting-edge technology into the classroom, making learning not only accessible but also engaging for students. His notable collaborations, such as with the London Tilcareer Institute, have opened doors for countless young professionals through scholarship programs that empower them to pursue their dreams.

Aside from the Doctorate degree, he is also a recipient of the Iconic British Leadership Award in 2023 and has been recognised as the UK Entrepreneur of the Year for 2025. Currently, he is leading an ambitious £10 million human capital development project aimed at transforming education across Africa, a testament to his dedication to uplifting communities through innovative education.
