The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) yesterday, April 5 inaugurated its Nnewi district society with investiture of the district’s pioneer chairman.
In her address at Classic Munich Hotel, Nnewi venue of the event, Chairman of the inauguration committee, Mrs Victoria Nduka, said that the birth of Nnewi district society was a significant milestone in the history of ICAN and accounting profession in the region.
She said that as a district society, the body is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service which she said ICAN represents.
“This platform will serve as a hub for professional development, networking, mentorship, and community engagement, ensuring that accountants in this region have the resources and support they need to excel.
“We deeply appreciate the leadership of ICAN at the national level, Chief Davidson Alaribe, and the entire Governing Council of ICAN for their guidance and approving the creation of this district society, “she said.
Mrs Nduka prayed to God to bless them and grant them more wisdom to pilot the affairs of the institute.
She acknowledged what she described as tireless efforts of the sponsor, Onitsha and district society of ICAN under the leadership of Dr Sylvanus Izebhokhae, the committee members and all those who have worked behind the scenes to make the event possible.
The event witnessed the investiture of Nnewi pioneer chairman, Mr Chima Nwosu, and his executive members.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Nwosu on behalf of the 2025/2026 executive members of the ICAN, Nnewi and district society declared their readiness to serve the institute.
He said they would execute their duties to the best of their ability with the rich culture of professional performance and enhancements for the members.
