…commends FG, NLC intervention in face-off
The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has described the reported termination of appointment of 3,000 staff as it put its total staff strength at 2,500
In a statement made available to the newsmen, the Coordinating Head Corporate Services at IBEDC, Angela Olanrewaju, faulted the report that the company has laid off 3,000 staff, whereas its staff strength is 2,500.
The statement read, “IBEDC is actively supporting the resolution of the ongoing third-party outsourcing (PIPILL) issue with the Oyo State branch of the NLC.
“The company appreciates the Federal Ministry of Labour for its efforts in facilitating discussions among stakeholders and commends the professionalism demonstrated throughout the mediation process, which remains ongoing.
“Furthermore, IBEDC strongly refutes the false claim that it has terminated 3,000 employees. The company has repeatedly clarified, with verifiable facts, that its total staff strength is approximately 2,500.
“The persistence of this misinformation suggests a deliberate and malicious attempt by certain media outlets to tarnish IBEDC’s reputation. Moving forward, the company will pursue legal action to address this defamation.
“We appeal to the Oyo State branch of the NLC to exercise patience while discussions progress and to refrain from picketing our offices or disrupting operations. Such actions would only impede our ability to provide uninterrupted power supply to businesses and residents in Oyo State and its environs”
