The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has urged the Bauchi State Government to improve the state’s tourism reserves in order to attract more domestic flights into the state.
FAAN made the call through its representative, Lawan Bako, at the launch of the Rano Air flight from Bauchi to Abuja on Friday.
Bako noted that “Bauchi State has a lot of tourism attractions.
“The Yankari Game Reserve, for example, has all it takes to be an international tourism centre, but Bauchi State must improve it to be more accommodating.”
According to the FAAN representative, improving tourist attractions in Bauchi, such as the Yankari Game Reserve, further will bring about more flights to keep the airport business and generate more revenue for the state.
Also speaking, the Managing Director, MD Rano Airlines, Lawan Sabo, disclosed that the airline now operates within eight states of the federation, including Bauchi State.
Lawan explained that the airline will remain committed to providing reliable flight services to passengers.
“We are in Bauchi, not like other airlines that came and left but to stay and provide competitive air services to the good people of Bauchi State.
“I am confident that the partnership between Rano Air and the Bauchi State government would foster economic development and promote social interaction in the state and beyond,” he stressed.
On his part, the Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed expressed his gratitude to the MD for his choice of Bauchi State, assuring him that his government had fixed all notable challenges facing the aviation industry to sustain the flights operation from Rano.
He pledged to do everything within his capacity to make the airline operation in Bauchi State seamless.
“We are aware of the challenges facing the aviation industry, and we pledge to do everything in our power to make your business in Bauchi State not only profitable but also an opportunity to expand and thrive.
“To the airlines operating on this route, I call upon you to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, punctuality, and consistency.
“Building trust and confidence among passengers is essential for the success of your operations,” he remarked.
Bala equally appreciated the regulatory agencies under the Federal Ministry of Aviation for their support in maintaining Bauchi airport to global standards.
