President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Chairman of the Lagos State Cybersecurity Advisory Board, Fene Osakwe, for winning the prestigious Cyber Personality of the Year award at the 2025 Cyber Security Awards in the UK. Dr. Osakwe made history as the first African to receive the honour, surpassing finalists from the US, UAE, Qatar, Netherlands and the UK.
He was recognised for his exceptional leadership and expertise in cybersecurity and data privacy.
According to a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu hailed Osakwe as an “exceptional Nigerian,” and a shining example of Nigeria’s innovative youth, emphasising his contributions to evolving cybersecurity globally.
The President described Osakwe as an exceptional Nigerian and a worthy representation of Nigeria’s talented, innovative and pace-setting youth.
While extolling the youth as Nigeria’s greatest asset, President Tinubu stated that Osakwe’s nomination and subsequent win foreground the global impact of young African professionals in cybersecurity.
The President wished Osakwe continued success, highlighting the global impact of young African professionals in the field.
