Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has appointed Professor Francisca Bassey as the new acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State, UNICROSS.

This follows the dissolution of the current governing COUNCIL of the school.

The governor has also appointed Fidelis Ugbo, former secretary of National Planning Commission, as the Pro-Chancellor.

This has effectively ended the lingering leadership squabbles that plagued the University, in the past few years and impacted academic works negatively according to pundits and stakeholders.

Otu has directed the new leadership to resume their offices immediately in order to nip in the bud every threat to a peaceful academic session in the University.

According to a statement signed by chief press secretary to the governor, Gill Nsa, “The state government is committed to the high standards in teaching and learning in the university as well as the welfare and well-being of staff and students.”

The governor called for maximum cooperation from the new governing council to change any negative narrative in the university.
