Officers of Ogun Space Command II of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, mentioned they impounded a bullion van with N24 million money for smuggling 12 luggage of overseas parboiled rice.
The bullion van was owned by Warehouse Ltd., whereas the cash belonged to Entry Financial institution PLC Abeokuta Department.
In accordance with the command’s space controller, Olusola Alade, the bullion van, impounded in April 2022 by a joint process power, was used to convey 12 luggage of smuggled rice, every weighing 50kg.
The customs boss disclosed this to journalists on Friday whereas handing over the bullion van and the cash to financial institution officers in Abeokuta, the state capital.
In accordance with him, the discharge of the van, in addition to the cash, to the administration of Entry Financial institution, was ordered by Controller Common of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi on compassionate grounds.
He added that three suspects had been arrested and charged in court docket in reference to the crime.

No. FKY 993 BZ, discovered to have hid some luggage of overseas parboiled rice and N24, 489,500, alongside the Sokoto-Ijoun/Joga Street, Abeokuta axis of Ogun State.”
The Customs boss defined that the overseas parboiled rice, 12 luggage of 50kg every, had been criminally hid in mentioned bullion van.
Upon the arrest of the suspects, the cash was deposited on the Abeokuta department of the Central Financial institution of Nigeria for safekeeping.
