The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has expressed grief over the death of Lt. General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who passed away on Thursday at the age of 82 after a prolonged illness.
In a condolence message, the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, described the late Useni as a committed patriot, seasoned military officer, and exemplary statesman who dedicated his life to serving the nation.
Yahaya highlighted the former Minister’s remarkable contributions to the development of the FCT and his unwavering commitment to national unity and progress during his tenure as a Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District.
“Lt. General Useni was a highly respected leader whose service in both military and civil capacities left a significant impact on Nigeria’s governance and development. His wealth of experience, wisdom, and dedication to national unity will be sorely missed,” Yahaya said.
The Forum extended condolences to Plateau State Governor Caleb Muftwang, the government and people of Plateau State, as well as the family and associates of the late General. Yahaya urged them to find solace in Useni’s legacy of patriotism and service.
“On behalf of the Northern Governors’ Forum, I offer our heartfelt condolences to his family, Governor Caleb Muftwang, the people of Plateau State, and the entire nation. We pray Almighty God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give his loved ones the strength to bear this loss,” Yahaya added
