The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in Osun State has extended the service year for 39 corps members of the 2024 Batch A stream 1 service year.
The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim made this known during their passing ceremony and disengagement from service on Thursday in Osogbo.
Agbor, who revealed that 2,252 corps members of the 2024 Batch A Stream 1 were passing out across the various local government council areas in the state, added that 40 others had absconded from service.
In his address, the Osun NYSC State Coordinator emphasised the NYSC Scheme’s vital role in fostering unity and national integration.
He commended the outgoing corps members for promoting these ideals through their primary assignments and community development service.
“I am proud of your dedication and commitment to spreading the gospel of unity and national integration. You have contributed positively to the development of your host communities, and I encourage you to continue being exemplary citizens.
“2,252 Corps Members successfully completed their service year, comprising 1,073 males and 1,179 females. However, 39 Corps members were sanctioned with extensions for various infractions, while 40 absconded from service.
“Throughout the service year, Corps Members were deployed to key sectors, including education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure. Their efforts aimed to address resource gaps in these areas,” he said.
The monitoring officer from Abuja, Bamgboye Paul, commended the corps members’ commitment.
He urged them to apply the values of hard work, patriotism, and community spirit to their future endeavors.
