The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) has taken a significant step towards empowering women in Sokoto, with the remodeling of its vocational centre and the training of 115 girls and women in various vocational skills.
The project, spearheaded by NAOWA Chairperson Mrs. Meg Indidi Ajose, aims to equip women with practical knowledge to enhance their livelihoods.
The newly remodeled centre offers training in tailoring, catering, and other trades, providing a functional hub for the benefit of the community.
In her address ,Mrs. Ajose emphasized the importance of skill acquisition, especially in the face of scarce white-collar jobs, and encouraged youths and women to take advantage of the opportunity.
She said the initiative is part of NAOWA’s ongoing efforts to promote economic self-reliance through vocational training and capacity-building programs.
The event featured traditional dances and the presentation of gifts to notable contributors, highlighting the community’s cultural diversity and appreciation for the project.
