The Isioma Akamagwuna Foundation, a non-governmental organisation based in Delta State, has successfully trained 350 young men and women in various fields of endeavor at Ubulu-Uku in the Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The training programme is part of the foundation’s commitment to empowering the youth and fostering community development.
Speaking at the event held recently, the founder of the foundation, Mrs. Isioma Akamagwuna-Oghorada, emphasised her passion for nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs. She stated that her primary focus is to equip young people with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the business world, adding that entrepreneurship is key to sustainable growth and progress in society. “The world is increasingly ruled by entrepreneurs, and catching them young is my top priority,” she said, further noting that such initiatives contribute significantly to the development of communities.
Mrs. Akamagwuna-Oghorada was represented at the event by Mrs. Faith Osadebe, who outlined the various fields in which the 350 beneficiaries were trained. The training covered a wide range of skills, including website design, digital marketing, makeup and gele tying, catering, phone and computer repair, event management, and decoration. In addition, other areas of expertise offered during the program included hair making, wig making, cinematography, electrical and cable TV installation, and production.
Mr. Odewunmi Olushola, the Training Coordinator for Capacity Development and Skills Enhancement Initiatives, expressed that early training for young people is crucial in preparing them for future challenges. “Training the youth at a young age helps them to think in the right direction and equips them with the skills needed to succeed in life,” he explained.
“Our organization was tasked with providing the community with intensive training in diverse fields, and we are proud to have empowered 41 of the most outstanding participants among the 350 beneficiaries.”
The young entrepreneurs who participated in the training program expressed their gratitude to the Isioma Akamagwuna Foundation for the opportunity to acquire valuable skills. Many shared that the two-week program has already started yielding results, with some of them generating income from the skills they acquired. One beneficiary remarked, “The training has already begun to impact our lives positively, and we are already seeing tangible results as we venture into our own businesses.”
The initiative by the Isioma Akamagwuna Foundation highlights the importance of supporting young people in building sustainable careers and contributing to the local economy. Through such empowerment programs, the foundation is laying the groundwork for a future where youth-driven entrepreneurship plays a pivotal role in the development of Delta State and beyond.
