President of the Centre for Change (CfC), Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, expressed the hope that Donald Trump, who is set to be inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, will restore stability in the Middle East.
He particularly emphasized the importance of maintaining the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas by limiting the activities of terrorist groups and their sponsors.
Okei-Odumakin said this in a signed release, titled: âAmericaâs Baton Change and the World,â copy of which was made available to newsmen on Monday, just as she affirmed that the legacy of the outgoing President Joe Biden, would surely include his administrationâs ongoing efforts to also promote peace in the region.
CfC president said there was no doubt that the outgoing President Biden followed the footsteps of his predecessor, the Late President Jimmy Carter, who championed the Camp David Accord and thereby forged peace between former arch-foes, Israel and Egypt.
The rights activist noted that as Biden bows out of office on Monday, President Trumpâs ascendancy had equally sent positive signals which would definitely expand the peace process in the troubled region.
âAs Joe Biden bows out, his legacy would surely include his administrationâs ongoing efforts to promote peace in the Middle East especially the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
âNo doubt he followed the footsteps of his charismatic predecessor, the deceased President Jimmy Carter, who championed the Camp David Accord and thereby forged peace between former arch-foes, Israel and Egypt.
âAs the international community applauds Bidenâs diplomacy in the region, President Donald Trumpâs ascendancy has equally sent positive signals which would definitely expand the peace process in the troubled region.
âIn addition to that, it is anticipated that Trumpâs administration would restore stability in the region by curtailing the activities of terrorist groups and their sponsors,â she said.

Okei-Odumakin, while expressing the hope that the on-going negotiations with Iran over its nuclear programme were expected to produce a deal acceptable to the global community, observed that Trumpâs controversial position on immigration may not be as harsh as it had been perceived in Africa and other parts of the the developing world after all.
According to her, Trumpâs insistence on shutting the borders against illegal immigrants can hardly be faulted, saying that no serious government anywhere can condone illegal immigration and thereby compromise its national security.
She, however, charged the in- coming President Trump to re-enact his pre-pandemic tax cuts which strengthened the American economy âin such a utilitarian manner that the greatest good would be delivered to the greatest number of ordinary citizens,â saying that he should do this âgiven the role the US plays in the global economy.â
âOn-going negotiations with Iran over its nuclear programme are expected to produce a deal acceptable to the global community.
âTrumpâs controversial position on immigration may not be as harsh as it has been perceived in Africa and other parts of the the developing world after all. For instance, his insistence on shutting the borders against illegal immigrants can hardly be faulted. No serious government anywhere can condone illegal immigration and thereby compromise its national security.
âFinally, given the role the US plays in the global economy, it is hoped that Trumpâs pre-pandemic tax cuts which strengthened the American economy should be re-enacted in such a utilitarian manner that the greatest good would be delivered to the greatest number of ordinary citizens,â Okei-Odumakin.
