Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club National President Prince Abayomi Ogunjimi says the functional supporters clubs in Nigeria share an unbreakable bond and will not allow intruders cause division among them.
This comes after the National Sports Commission’s recent move to unite supporters clubs in the country.
“We appreciate the National Sports Commission under Mallam Shehu Dikko and Hon. Bukola Olopade for their giant strides even in their early days. We are working towards a common goal and it’s only beneficial for all parties to sustain what we have built,” Ogunjimi said.
“Stakeholders see and know the functional supporters clubs, so it’s pertinent to reiterate that we are together and we won’t give room for opportunists to come in-between us, intruders have no place in our midst.”
The ANFASSC boss attributed his club’s prominence to their unique approach to fan support and community engagement.
“ANFASSC may be the most notable, prominent or vocal, it’s due to the touch we added to the game in terms of organisation, our itinerary of events, Corporate Social Responsibilities and relationship with stakeholders. We understand what is applicable globally and we are not leaving any stone unturned, but we are quite aware that some people laid the foundation.”
This development comes as Nigerian football supporters prepare to rally behind the Super Eagles in their quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Earlier this month, Ogunjimi had called for unified support for newly appointed Eagles coach Eric Chelle ahead of the qualifiers and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
“We must put aside our differences and unite behind coach Eric Chelle and the Super Eagles,” he said.
“Qualifying for the World Cup and winning the Africa Cup of Nations are our top priorities, and we must work together to achieve these objectives.”
He urged the NSC, Nigeria Football Federation and other sports federations not to be concerned about potential troublemakers, assuring that the established supporters clubs remain united in their mission to support Nigerian sports.
