At least seven bandits were killed in a joint security operation that foiled a suspected attack by bandits on Ruwan Doruwa village, Dutsinma Local Government Area, Katsina State.
The operation also resulted in the recovery of 61 cows, 44 sheep, two donkeys, one goat, and one dog.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Katsina State Command, DSP Sadiq Abubakar, told journalists on Saturday in Katsina that, “On January 18th, 2025, at about 09:00 hours, a distress call was received at the
Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters about an attack by suspected armed bandits, who were armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles. The bandits attacked Ruwan Doruwa village, Dutsinma LGA, Katsina State.
“Upon receiving the report, the DPO, in collaboration with the military, DSS, members of the KTSCWC, and the vigilante group, swiftly mobilised and responded to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, which led to the neutralisation of seven suspected bandits. The remaining bandits fled the scene with varying degrees of injury, abandoning all the rustled animals.”
According to Abubakar, the Commissioner of Police for Katsina State, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the exceptional display of gallantry, valour, and professionalism by the operatives.
He also reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the public.
“The CP further urged members of the public to continue supporting the command by providing timely and useful information to assist in the ongoing fight against all forms of crime and criminality in the state,” Abubakar, said.
