The Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat and Intel Corporation, has launched a free Artificial Intelligence (AI) academy to equip Nigerian youth with AI skills.
The ministry, through the National Orientation Agency, revealed that the academy will provide beneficiaries with free access to self-paced courses on AI fundamentals, ethics, tools, and real-world applications, noting that the participants will also compete for AI ambassadorial roles and internships with Intel Corporation, gaining hands-on global experience in AI.
It said, “The programme aims to prepare Nigerian Youths for future jobs and leadership roles in the digital economy, empowering them with AI skills, enhancing their competitiveness in the global job market, and also driving innovation in the country.”
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging technology to drive economic growth, improve lives, and create opportunities for Nigerian Youths.
Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, noted that Nigeria is ready to become one of the leading countries in Africa regarding AI. He stated, “We are one of the few countries investing in talents, AI, and computers, which most African countries are not doing.”
Applications are open now and will close by the end of January.
