Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has pledged that his administration will continue to support education and excellence to achieve the set objectives of good governance.
The Governor made this statement when he honored the Gombe State contingents who emerged victorious in various categories at the 39th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition recently held in Kebbi State.
During a brief ceremony at the New Banquet Hall of the Government House on Thursday, the Governor conveyed the congratulations of the government and people of Gombe State to the winners, their families, and their schools for their resounding victory at the national competition. He noted that their success has brought pride and honor to the state.
The Governor applauded the winners and commended their teachers and parents for nurturing such exceptional talents while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to promoting education and religious values.
According to him, “On behalf of the government and the good people of Gombe State, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our outstanding contingent for their stellar performance.”
“The accomplishments of Rumaisa’u Dahir Ibrahim, who secured first place in the Female 1st Category (Tafsir & Qira’at), and Nuhu Mohammed, who achieved second place in the Male 1st Category (Tafsir & Qira’at), as well as the achievements of other participants in various categories, reflect their passion for the Holy Qur’an and the value our state places on sound education,” Governor Inuwa stated.
Inuwa Yahaya added, “I would like to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of your parents, teachers, and the State Qur’anic Recitation Competition Committee.”
“Your guidance, mentorship, and unwavering support have been instrumental in shaping these individuals into the exemplary champions we celebrate today,” the Governor added.
The Governor used the occasion to announce the presentation of a 2025 Hajj Seat to the overall winner of the 60 Hifz female category (Tafsir and Qira’at), N1 million to the second-place winner in the male category (Tafsir and Qira’at), while the remaining four winners in various categories each received N500,000 in recognition of their outstanding performances.
“In the same vein, I also donate the sum of N2 million to the Gombe State Qur’anic Recitation Committee. This token of appreciation is not only a recognition of your hard work but also a call to our youth to emulate your exemplary efforts,” the Governor said.
The Governor, however, emphasized that his administration remains resolutely committed to supporting initiatives that promote education, religious values, and youth empowerment.
He assured that his government will continue to invest in nurturing the talents of young people and fostering their development across the state.
Earlier in her remarks, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Aishatu Umar Maigari, explained that the success of the Gombe State contingent at the competition followed a rigorous and painstaking process, beginning from the ward, local, and state levels.
She expressed gratitude to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his moral and financial support throughout the process that led to the victory, as well as to the Qur’anic Recitation Committee for their steadfastness, which culminated in the resounding victory.

The winners are Rumaisa’u Dahir Ibrahim (60 Hifz) – overall winner, female category; Nuhu Mohammed – 2nd position, male category; Hafsat Ibrahim Waziri (30 Hifz) – 4th position, female category; Sumayya Adamu Usman (Tafsir) – 5th position, female category; Mudanif Abubakar (Tafsir) – 4th position, male category; and Abdulrahman Musa (60 Hifz) – 5th position, male category.
A highlight of the event was the recitation of some verses of the Holy Qur’an by Rumaisa’u Dahir Ibrahim, the overall winner of the 60 Hifz female category, as a show of gratitude to Allah (SWT) and appreciation to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his generosity and motivation, as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe.
