Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has signed the sum of N615,857,950 billion 2025 appropriation bill into law
The governor assented to the bill on Monday during a brief ceremony at the Council Chamber of Government House in Maiduguri, the state capital.
While assenting to the budget named “Budget of Recovery and Continuity,” Zulum promised to complete outstanding projects made during his 2023 campaign promise.
He presented the budget estimate of N584.76bn on December 9, 2024, and it was passed by the State House of Assembly on December 24, 2024.
He, however, noted that after wide deliberations by members of the House, a marginal increase of N31bn was made.
“This year is very important for me because I want to complete all the promises I made during 2023 electioneering campaigns,” Zulum said.
He urged heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and members of the state executive council to comply strictly with the provisions of the bill while presenting their memos for approval.
The governor also commended the leadership and members of the House for the budget’s prompt approval.
“We have to commend the leadership of the House of Assembly, we also have to commend the maturity of the House led by our able Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan.
“This is very important because all the developmental strides achieved could not have been possible without the full support and cooperation received by the government from the legislature,” he said.
In his remark, Lawan commended the governor for the leadership quality and projects executed across the state in the last six years.
The speaker also noted that the upward review of the appropriation bill was to capture some critical people-centred projects to be carried out by the MDAs.
