The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, has urged the Christians to use the Christmas season to pray for prevailing peace across Nigeria as well as quick economic recovery.
He stated this in a goodwill message to Christian faithful in the state marking Christmas.
The governor advised the Christians to see Christmas as a period of prayer, showing love and of course a period of sober reflection.
“I urge you to use this period to fervently pray for prevailing peace across Nigeria and also pray for God’s intervention to enable us fix the lingering economic predicaments bedeviling the country,” he urged.
Gov. Idris admonished them to extend hands of friendship to both Christian and non-Christian alike towards promoting unity and understanding amongst Nigerians.
He encouraged the Christians to endeavour to reflect on the teachings of Prophet Isah (Peace Be Upon Him), “which is directed towards tolerance, humility, love, trust and forgiveness.”
Similarly, the Governor donated three truckload of rice to the Christian community for the Christmas celebrations.
This was announced by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Christian Affairs, Dr. Samuel Audu Dabai, during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi.
Dabai acknowledged the Governor’s consistent support to the Christian community, especially during festive seasons, to facilitate the celebration of the yuletide in joy and harmony with their families.
He made it clear that the rice would be distributed across the southern part of the state, where the Christian population is mostly concentrated, to reach the target beneficiaries.
Dabai expressed gratitude to Governor Nasir Idris for his inclusive leadership and commitment to fostering unity and mutual respect among all communities in Kebbi State.
