The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has deployed 2,550 operatives to maintain peace and protect critical national assets and infrastructures during the Yuletide in Katsina.
The command’s spokesman, Buhari Hamisu, made this disclosure in a statement in Katsina on Tuesday.
He said the NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr Jamilu Indabawa, made this known while issuing the operational order on Monday.
“He specifically indicated that emphasis should be placed on churches, recreational/events centres, motor parks, markets, the festive locations and relevant facilities belonging to federal, state and local governments.
“Adequate undercover operatives were also deployed and placed in very sensitive locations to provide timely and actionable intelligence that will help to contain all the activities of miscreants in the state,’’ he said.
The commandant urged the public to be more vigilant and report any suspicious movement of persons or items to their nearest office.
He emphasised on adherence to reviewed strategies to include intensive surveillance, intelligence gathering, community engagement, collaboration and diligence among others.
Indabawa tasked the relevant Heads of Departments and Units, Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Unit Commanders, and Special Forces to ensure a well coordination and proper patrolling to provide watertight security in the state.
The commandant further charged all the personnel deployed to be disciplined, dedicated, professional and synergise with other security agencies to ensure hitch-free celebrations.
