The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, also known as KAI, has stormed the Ikoyi and Victoria Island areas of the state, arresting 49 miscreants.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Tuesday in Lagos.
According to the statement, the raid which was conducted on Monday night, was aimed at improving security and maintaining order in the areas.
The commissioner said the patrols, which covered key areas such as Idowu Martins, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Akin Adesola, Samuel Manuwa, Muri Okunola, Ajose Adeogun, Lugard Avenue, and Macdonald Road, yielded significant results.
According to him, the operation highlighted ongoing efforts by the government to ensure that Lagos remains a secure and orderly city for its inhabitants.
He further stated that the 49 individuals arrested were involved in illicit activities during the operation.
“Over the course of the night, the dedicated operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, patrol team covered key areas including Idowu Martins, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Akin Adesola, Samuel Manuwa, Muri Okunola, Ajose Adeogun, Lugard Avenue, Macdonald Road, and other areas in Ikoyi and Victoria Island,” the statement partly read.
“The operation aimed to enhance security and maintain order across these neighbourhoods.
“In the course of the patrols, 49 miscreants and illegal street traders were apprehended, reinforcing our commitment to ensuring a safe and orderly environment for residents and businesses.”
