Ministry of Works has proposed N1.065 trillion (One trillion, Sixty Five Billion, One hundred and seventy one million, four hundred and sixty six thousand, six hundred and five naira) only for its 2025 capital budget.
The sum represent 99% of the total sum of N1,072,664,772,396 trillion (One Trillion, Seventy Two Billion Six Hundred and Sixty Four million, Seven Hundred and Seventy Two Thousand, Three Hundred and Ninety-Six Naira only.
Of that amount, the ministry proposed N5.635 billion for its personnel and N1.857 billion for Overheads.
Document obtained from the ministry by our correspondent on the 2025 budget proposal, showed that the ministry of Works would expend over N1.560 billion on research and development.
The Ministry under David Umahi also proposed a spending of N1.136bn on monitoring and evaluation of the projects across the country as part of the N3.6bn proposed for what it described as non-tangible assets.
Architects and Engineers and other designers would benefit from the planned purchase of computer software for which the minister has proposed N910m to the national assembly for its consideration in the 2025 budget.
In its continued effort to work on the roads under the renewed hope agenda, David Umahi assented to the proposal before the national assembly containing the sum of N764,901,949,307 (Seven Hundred and Sixty-Four Billion, Nine Hundred and One million, Nine Hundred and Nine Thousand, Three Hundred and Seven Naira) only for the construction and provisions of public schools and roads across Nigeria.
As part of the renewed hope agenda, N724,036,716,605 (Seven Hundred and Twenty-Four billion, Thirsty six million, Seven Hundred and Sixteen thousand Six Hundred and Five naira) only.
The Minister also proposed a directive for the ministry to spend N240m on construction of public schools. This would be carried out after the approval by the national assembly and assented to by the President.
While Forty Billion, Six Hundred and Twenty Five Million, Two Hundred and Thirty Two Thousand, Seven Hundred and Two naira for infrastructure.
While the Ministry under the supervision of Umahi proposed the sum of N292,199,609,000 (Two hundred and Ninety Two Billion, One hundred and Ninety Nine million, Six Hundred and Nine Naira) only, strictly for the repairs of public schools and roads, the document stated.
From the N292bn N289,375,000,000 (Two Hundred and Eighty-Nine Billion, Three Hundred and Seventy Million Naira) only, has been proposed for repairs of roads.
If the proposals sails through the national assembly and secure the assent of the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu , the visionaire of the Renewed Hope Agenda, the Ministry has proposed a welfare package of N200m.
